Mari Kukk, a journalist for Maaleht, says with a light smile that the residency will hopefully provide support and time for "unbridled writing".
"The scholarship is a message of joy and hope for many like me who are neither writers nor artists, but who also have creative ambitions that could be expressed during isolation and alone time."
The initial plan is to keep a journal of the Italian village, observe it, observe the people, and definitely record the feelings of being alone and the journey of self-discovery (or finding oneself).
"I hope stories will be born," she says.
